    Home Water: Sabine Lake
    Favorite Lure: Black Super Spook
Born and raised on the bayous of the Sabine River, I learned how to fish while spending my summers on the banks of Toledo Bend, where my grandparents had a home. When I wrote my eighth grade research paper on professional bass fishing, my literature teacher said “Its defiantly original.” After my grandparents sold their house, I started fishing Sabine Lake when I was 15 years old. I was quickly aware that I could adapt the same philosophy and techniques to salt water, and figured out that the fish that inhabit it are just as smart and allusive as bass, and pull twice as hard to boot! I spent 3 years learning the art of catching trophy trout from some of the best fishermen on the coast while I lived in Pearland for a short time. When moving back to Sabine Lake in 1999, my friends and I were among the very first anglers to adapt wade fishing to Sabine and Calcasieu Lake. I obtained my captain license in 2003, and after guiding for a period of time, I realized my true passion lie solely in hunting true salt water trophies. Although guiding led me to some invaluable relationships, I have dedicated my fishing career to just that, wondering the cold and lonely flats searching for the one. I highly recommend that you do the same, just don’t get to close.
